Teaching gliding

Knowing and learning the techniques of gliding is the basis of swimming. This is one of the criteria of teaching swimming successfully. Teaching gliding changes in each level. This is the phase when our learners experience what it is like pushing themselves forward in water. The steps of teaching gliding are the followings: learners should put their head into water; their arms out in front of them, put their face into water and finally push off toward the instructor. The flatter of the surface of the glide is, the farther the children will go.  Essential tools for swimming are floats or kickboards. Fins add propulsion to the kicks. They build up leg strength and ankle flexibility. Successful gliding technique has three components: gliding on the back, gliding itself, and standing up from gliding position. It is easier to learn gliding on the back than gliding on the abdomen.
