Rules of planning gymnastic exercises

  1. The exercise should have a title. For example, coherent floor exercises for 1-2 grades
  2. The data of gym equipment must be listed. For example, vaulting box/horse with three separate elements, 1 metre high balance beam, 2x8 metre floor
  3. The starting point should be given exactly: For example: starting/basic position 1 metre far from one of the ends of the mat
  4. Motions should be listed, their direction, the size and quantity. For example: forward and backward rolls
  5. The relationship between the elements must be specified: in case of one-time basis exercises the main motion should be specified then using the worth “with” the other motions must be listed, if there is a third type of motion the word “and” has to be used. For example: jump into straddle, twisting torso to the left, and arm bending around nape.
  6. The elements of exercises must be numbered and these numbers have to be listed one under the other.
  7. If an exercise has some specific elements it is evident that they must be marked. For example: backward roll onto the back of the neck.
  8. If certain motions are done on/with equipment then they are not needed to be specified. For example: on balance beam transverse position is often done. In this case only side position must be indicated. Chasses forward on bent left leg, 90 degree swing to the right.
  9. If equipment is used the place of landing should be given. For example: finish in a lunge with the dominant leg in front.
