Running and tag games

Children like these exercises. Gymnastic elements can e used.

Dumpling, pancake, stalk

Children stand in scattered position. They start running when they have heard a signal, when the word of “dumpling” is mentioned they shrink, when “pancake” can be heard they lie down in supine position, they will raise their hands high when the word “stalk is shouted they must stand on one leg.

Task: this exercise has to be done quickly. The winner is the student who is the last to stay there.

Stalk, house

Children run to and fro. One of the children’s tasks is to catch someone. Whom he/she touch he/she will be the next to try to catch the others. The child who was touched will stand on one leg, he will be a stalk. Only 3 sec can be spent in the house then as soon as he/she can he/she will have to escape. Those children will be the winners who have not been caught.

Summersault, house

Children run to and fro. One of the children’s tasks is to touch someone. Whom he/she touches he/she will be the next to try to catch the others. The child who can do summersault he/she must not be caught only when he/she has finished the task, he can escape again. Those children will be the winners who have not been caught. It can be played with cartwheel.

Being the catcher for half of a minute

Children run to and fro. One of the children chases the others for half of a minute, the child who is touched will crouch and form a “rabbit ear” (backward roll) then the numbers of the children who have been caught are counted and children start the game again. Those children will be the winners who have not been caught.

Playing on gymnastic equipment

On the floor several gymnastic equipment are placed (mats, benches, vaults etc.) so far from each other that children could reach them when jumping or running. Both the catcher and the child who tries to escape can move, walk and jump only on this equipment. The child who is touched will be the next catcher. If somebody steps down from any of the equipment will also be the catcher.

Statue game

Children run to and fro. To a signal they have to form a “statue” and carry out tasks, for example, on two legs, on tiptoes, on one leg, on two hands etc.)

Task: staying motionless until they can hear the signal again. The child who moves or could not understand the task will fall out. The winners are those children who will be the last to play this game.
