Age characteristics

Running is just like walking happens with the increase of strides and decrease of step frequency. Boys outstrip girls at the age of 6-7. In this age children’s coordinated running is about 90%. This is the reason for accepting and liking running in contrast with jumping and throwing. School children’s running is well coordinated and harmonious in the sub-maximal speed zone. If they strive for maximum speed their movements become convulsive because of the unstable neural processes. As children can be motivated by running competitions these events do not serve the development of their running techniques. At this age children’s posture involves straight spine with slight bend. Children try to push the leg off for distance, swing their arms and run on their heels that strike the ground. These techniques will change by the age of 8-10.  Girls’ performance is the closest to boys at this age.
