Running across with a ball

In the central one third of the playing field a ball catcher takes up his position, the rest of the students line up in one queue behind one of the starting lines of the playing field. At the sign of a whistle, the first member of the queue tries to run across the playing field to the other side with regular dribbling. While he is running across, the ball catcher tries to get the ball from him (by hitting it, handling it) or to force him to make an error at dribbling. After one by one, each player with a ball has tried to run across, we count how many balls the ball catcher could get in a fair play, and we choose another ball catcher. The winner is the ball catcher who could get the most balls from the players running across, either hitting or handling them.

Rules of the game

  1. The ball catcher can get the ball only in fair play. He must not hug or push the player with the ball; he may touch only the ball.
  2. The touch is valid only within the track.
  3. Those who run across must advance with regular dribble, only forward or sideways, but not backwards.
