IV.5.6. Skating backwards

- Pushing another skater backwards.
- Pushing themselves from the wall bars and rolling 3-4 meters backwards.
- Rolling backwards with smaller then greater knee angles.
- Holding a bar, lifting one leg forward from basic position, as if they were about to jump at 40 cm from the ground.
- Kick scooting (body weight is placed on the bent leg, on which they roll, while the other leg pushes with all 4 wheels turned a bit inwards).
- Kick scooting backwards in a way that none of the wheels of the pushing leg leave the ground.
- Kick scooting backwards with longer and longer glides on one leg.
- With both legs kept on the ground, rolling backwards in a way that both legs draw a wave line. The centre of gravity is lowered when the legs are spread, and when they close in, it is lifted.
- With the skates held in a “V” shape, rolling backwards while spreading the legs to shoulder-width, then placing the centre of gravity over to the other leg and closing in with the first leg (taking turns with the legs).
- Taking small steps backwards forming a slight “V” shape with the feet turned inwards.
- The previous exercise, but before each push, the leg in the air should touch the toe of the supporting leg.
- Gliding backwards with longer and longer rolls in a way that after each push the leg is lifted and the knee touches the opposite arm.
- Gliding backwards with longer and longer rolls in a way that after each push the heel is lifted and it touches the opposite arm at the back.
- Gliding backwards with longer and longer rolls, while placing the centre of gravity on the outer blade of the skate.
Incorrect execution:
- The centre of gravity is not placed from one leg to another, so the one-leg rolls do not happen, the skater only rolls on one leg with one leg.
- The centre of gravity is placed too much in the front, and the skater cannot start.
- The centre of gravity is placed too much at the back, so the skater cannot maintain their balance.
- The legs are spread too much.
