I.8.2. Equipment – Stick and accessories

Choosing the perfect stick length is key to proper playing. Length is to be measured according to the height of the player as seen in the chart. A general rule is that the floorball stick should reach the belly button of the standing player. You can choose either longer or shorter sticks. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Recommended length considering player height:

Player (cm)                       100      110      120      130      140      150      160

Stick (cm)                           75        80        85        90      100      105      110

Holding sticks is crucial as well. It turns out early whether left or right hold fits better. Preferred hand is placed on top of the shaft. Right handed players have left holding, left handed ones have right holding.

It is important to hold the stick at its end, otherwise it would come up against the lower arm, hindering the proper movement of the stick. The hand holding the top end shall leave a bit of space in the palm, the other hand should go at the end of the shaft grip. Sticks can be either amateur sticks for left and right hands or professional ones.

Balls are made of white or coloured plastic, and have small holes on them.

Any goal cage is suitable given that it has the right size and a net made of stiff mesh.
