The goal, just like in ice hockey, does not stand on the base line, but 3.5 m away from it inside the playing area. The goals are 160 cm wide, 115 cm high and their depth is 65 cm. The penalty area is 4 m by 5 m. Each team can have 3-5 players and one goalkeeper on the rink simultaneously. Teams consist of a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 20 players. Teams consist of 6-20 players. A floorball game is officially played over three periods lasting 20 minutes each. Only the goalkeeper can enter and stay in the goalkeeper area, although the ball may be played from there by a field player with a stick. The goalie must not hold the ball for more than 3 seconds, and when throwing the ball, it must hit the floor before passing the centre line. If the ball goes out of the rink/field, the other team can continue the game 1 meter away from the spot where the ball went out. If the ball goes out from the end, the other team continues from the corner spot. When given a free hit, the opponent must be at least 3 meters away from the ball (sticks included). The ball may be kicked, but not more than once and not to a team mate. The ball must not be played with the hands or head. The ball may be played from the air if it is below the knee level. Players may not play without a stick.
