II.4.1. Main rules

The court

The size of the court and the rules may be set according to the circumstances. Its best to mark the ends with dimensions of 6 m and 12 m, but a volleyball court is suitable as well. Over the centre line there is a net with a height of 1 m. The court shall be divided into two equal halves with a line parallel to the side lines and drawn from the end line.

The game

  • The game starts with a serve. The serving player drops the ball on the right side of the service zone then kicks it over to the receiving end. Service shall be executed diagonally. The ball may touch the net. In this case the game continues normally, services are not repeated. The serve may be received directly in the air or after it has touched the ground.
  • Lines are considered parts of the court. When the ball touches one, the game shall carry on.
  • The ball may touch the receiving side once, then players may send the ball to the other side using their feet, head, chest, knee or thigh. Players are not allowed to touch the ball twice subsequently.
  • The rules of the number of touches shall be settled in advance. Subsequent touches are allowed in doubles (2 touches) and in team games (3-4 touches).
  • To win a match a team has to win 2 sets. A set finishes with the 11th point with a 2 point difference.
