Wrestling

Number of participants: the whole class, in pairs

Necessary equipment: a circle (5m diameter) drawn on the floor tatami or carpets

Skills: speed, reaction, orientation in space, body combat, finding a good hold, balance

The pairs stand up in the middle of the designated circle behind two short lines. They greet each other with a handshake. The round starts on a mark and lasts 2 minutes.

Aim: to get the opponent out of the circle.

If a player manages to achieve this, s/he gets 1 point.

Points can also be scored by lifting the opponent by grabbing the whole upper body and lifting the whole body above the ground.

If a player can keep his/her opponent lifted for 3 seconds, then that means instant victory (the feet should not be touching the ground for all 3 seconds).

If s/he can only keep his/her opponent lifted for 2 seconds, then that means 2 points.

Rules:

  1. It is forbidden to kick, hit, scratch, bite the opponent or to sit down or squat deliberately. If there is no instant victory within the round then at the end of the round the player with more points becomes the winner. If there is a tie, the round continues for one extra minute. If there is still a tie, then the more skilful player becomes the winner based on the judge’s decision.
