Timber

Number of participants: the whole class, in groups of 3

Necessary equipment: tatami or carpets

Skills: balance, trust, strength

The groups should be formed with members of similar weight. Two players stand up facing each other. The third player stands between them in the middle facing one of them. This player should tighten his/her whole body, all the muscles to remain straight as a piece of wood. The first two players start passing the body of the third back and forth with small thrusts at the back and the upper part of the chest.

This exercise can only be done seriously, safely and with trust!

Variations:

  1. The distance between the first two players can be varied.
  2. We can vary the position of the third person, too. For example, turn him sideways.
  3. We can limit the height where they should catch the timber. If we set this low, it requires serious strength from the players!
  4. We can put a timber into a circle, too, where the members can pass the timber around in all the directions.
