Aim at the following technical aspects

  • the basic techniques are easy to learn, you may improve your knowledge quickly
  • put your body weight on your legs, your hips should be above the hold, so these three have primary roles: legs, hips, holds
  • your body should be as close as possible to the wall, your arms and hands should keep you in vertical position
  • visualize your climb; observe the difficulties of the wall in front of you and plan your climb
  • stop at a safe and easy point for a rest and further planning
  • check your moves for stability and level of difficulty
  • you may not be able to see the next hold, you may have to look for it with your hands
  • to be able to see your next hold, you may have to let your hips back, away from the wall. This way you will see more upwards and downwards, too. If you found your next move, retrieve your original position and continue climbing.
  • do not make sudden moves or jumps
  • look for rhythm in your climb
  • if you climb convulsively, you risk getting muscle cramps and reach early fatigue which will mean the end of your climb
