Simple rugby

Number of participants: the whole class, 2 groups (5-10 people in a group)

Necessary equipment: tatami or carpet, stopwatch, rugby ball or medicine ball, a mark to distinguish between the two groups

Skills: orientation is space, strength, stamina, body combat

We let the two groups stand up on their own part of the field. We toss the ball at the center line to start the game.

Aim: to get the ball into the goal by passing the ball. Team members should actively cooperate.

The other team tries to hinder the first while they aim for their own goal. Team members try to block the player who actually has the ball by all means.

The group to score the most goals in a given time is the winner.

Rules:

  1. Only the player with the ball can be attacked.
  2. It is forbidden to toss or trip the others or cause an accident in any other way.
  3. If the ball leaves the field, the other team brings it back into the game.
  4. If too many players attack each other, the teacher may stop the game and order a new start between only two players.

Variations:

  1. We may start the game differently. Tossing the ball in the air, letting the ball simply fall, etc.
  2. We may limit the ways the players may attack each other when blocking.
  3. We may play the whole game in different body positions (not only standing upright).
