To overcome stress and revealing emotions to some extant genetically determined. It is proved that the long (L) or short (S) allele in 5HTT gene may be associated with the ability of controlling emotions. The examination carried out on female athletes having SS genotype has made evident that they were less nervous and pessimist that those of with LS and LL genotype.

The brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is responsible for the development and functions of several neurons both centrally in the brain and on periphery. According to the latest studies it is clear that BDNF expression is present not only in the neurons but also in skeletal muscle. In the brain BDNF intensifies the progenitor cell proliferation as well as its differentiations, the nerve growth and regeneration processes, synaptic remodelling and plasticity. Physical activity enhances the level of BDNF in the brain which is maintained even two weeks after trainings. By contrast overtraining decreases the quantity of BDNF causing anxiety, frustration and fret. The polimorphysm (G196A) of BDNF gene modifies the psychic response to stress as well as motivation. These changes significantly affected individuals’ negative/positive thoughts under intensive load. It may help athletes to treat their stress thus achieving better sport results.
