Individual and team athletes’ drug use behaviour

It has become clear by now that team sports support smoking and alcohol consumption. According to Martha et al, (2009) binge drinking is the practice of male athletes who tend to drink alcohol with the primary intention of becoming intoxicated. While female athletes seem to be protected by doing individual sports. Athletes of team sports are likely binge drink. While examining the alcohol consumption of individual teenage athletes Wichstram and Wichstram, (2009) and Kulesza et al (2014) arrived at the conclusion that they drank less than the athletes of team sports and there was not a considerable difference between the two groups regarding smoking.
