Measuring motor skills and abilities by laboratory devices

Several methods are known to measure motor skills and abilities. There are simple and more complicated methods, techniques and devices. The simple ones do not demand any laboratory environment. They can be used either at home or at schools. Their advantage is that measurements can be repeated as many times as it is necessary. This study intends to show few of these devices and tests. With these methods individuals’ health conditions can be tested. If the outcomes are compared to standard indicators we will have information about what motor skills should be developed. The gained data support individuals to opt for sports appropriate for their physical condition. By using a so called longitudinal test the development of certain motor skills and abilities can be followed up. This also shows how effective trainings were.

There are laboratory devices that are applied in medical diagnostics or in rehabilitations and to prepare athletes scientifically for competitions.
