Body building disorders-Body-fat phobia

Body building develops body–fat phobia. Sufferers concentrate on body weight while doing excessive trainings. It develops in body builders and especially women are the sufferers. They desire to control their weight or manipulate their body. They are scared of putting on fat and they are convinced that they are not muscular and lean enough. They deny femininity as it is a popular belief that body fat symbolizes femininity. The reason for developing this phobia is the bad relationship and conflicts with their mother or sisters. Bodybuilder women consider males’ body perfect, love their jobs, clothing, their way of dressing therefore they would like to become males (Gruber and Pope, 2000).

The signs of overtraining and eating disorder in body building are eating and making protein and energy rich meals three times a day and doing excessive trainings at the same time, and the body does not have time to recover after intense workouts. They do not like showing their body to anyone because of feeling anxiety (Gruber and Pope, 2000). Due to the fat-free diet women will have irregular menses or amenorrhoea and become uncertain regarding sexuality (Túry and et al, 2010).
