Fatorexia

The opposite of anorexia is fatorexia. It is a distorted self-perception of being fat. Neither family members are conscious of individuals’ obesity nor patients consider themselves fat. The cycles of it is the following: sufferers of fatorexia lose weight but soon put fat again. The reason for this behaviour is that patients believe that when they have lost several kilograms they will not gain weight. Reality is different; they will put on much more weight than they have already lost. At present there are no measurable data about the numbers of these patients.
