VI.1. The elements of fitness, training, performance, skills

It is a physical condition, special sport performance created by the effect of the training load. The level of fitness is expressed in general terms in the performance or specific activity. The individual components of fitness interact closely.

The theoretical training principle is that with continuous training, the growing load tailored to the performance ability, affects the fitness with an increasing tendency.  The fitness contributes to the development of the diverse performance capacity.

Performance ability

Performance ability is the level and mobilization of motor skills, knowledge of techniques of the sport, performance, ability, intellectual skills and the combination of all of these.

Performance attitude

The performance attitude demonstrates the approach towards the coach and the sport, its connection to the environment and life. Accordingly, the performance attitude includes the athlete’s motivation which helps to mobilize the available energy.

Training

“The training is the scientifically managed process to enhance performance. During this, we purposefully shape the performance ability and attitude of the athlete, to help to achieve results in the sport. Its essential feature therefore, is the enhancement and maintenance of the achieved performance level. This effort distinguishes the competitive sport from the other physical education and sport activities.”

Main areas of training

  • The administration and enhancement of strategic physical and psychological training according to the capacity of the individual;
  • The strategic education of certain practices and sports for the purpose of technical and tactical training;
  • Use of pedagogical methods in order to achieve positive personality development;
  • The design of health-conscious lifestyle and quality of life;

Characteristics of training effects

  • The individual or athlete is motivated to achieve better results, therefore gradually developing expectations;
  • The training becomes the individual or athlete’s way of life;
  • It develops the need for independence;
  • The need for scientific knowledge appears;
  • The method and implementation of training varies according to age etc.
