VI.1.3. Load components

Intensity:

The training intensity indicates the strength of external and internal stimuli as a consequence of the training. The training intensity determines:

  • Speed and frequency of a constructed movement per unit of time;
  • A complex (cyclic or acyclic) movement speed;
  • The size of the weight lifted;
  • the size of resistance;
  • the performance per time unit;

Intensity grades:

  • 30-50%: poor, low
  • 50-70%: easy
  • 70-80%: medium
  • 80-90%: submaximal
  • 90-100%: maximal

Stimulus density

The density of the stimulus expresses the time relationship between load and rest periods during the individual training sessions. It determines the succession of the load and rest periods.

Period of time

With the period of time we determine the content of the effect of an isolated stimulus. With this, for example, we can direct the time length of a series of practices in strength training and in cyclic practices the length of time of the load phase. The length of time is affected by the fatigue which causes a decline in performance.

Extent

The extent is determined by the duration of all the stimuli during training and the number of repetitions. The intensity of the applied stimulus is effective when coupled with the necessary range.
