V.3.2. Types of endurance

  • Characteristics of long-term endurance: effort over 15-30 minutes, pace and intensity of effort is not reduced significantly, mostly aerobic, its main condition is the perfect circulatory-respiratory function. Development: long-term, continuous fartlek training (pace game).
  • Characteristics of medium-term endurance: effort between 2-9 minutes, the intensity of effort does not change significantly.  Over 2 minutes the energy is produced in the presence of oxygen. Types of sports for medium-term endurance: 800-2000 meter flat race, 400 meter medley etc.
  • The characteristics of short-term endurance: effort between 45 seconds – 2 minutes i.eg the 100 meter flat race.
  • Strength endurance: its characteristic is fatigue after fighting resistance, an important factor in combat sports such as judo, wrestling.
  • Speed endurance: the athlete has the ability to move his muscles repeatedly at or near maximum speed for a relatively prolonged time. Sports: sport games, throwing or jumping events etc.
