V.2.2. Speed characteristics at primary school age

  • Sensible step frequency development;
  •  Elemental speed (between 8-14 years of age);
  •  During childhood it is beneficial to develop the reaction and frequency and the nerve-muscle movement speed and the sense of rhythm at a higher rate than average.

Speed power which typically appears between 12-17 years of age can be practiced (i.e. low impact hopping). However, jumping from elevation tends to put a lot of force on the knees and joints and is therefore not recommended before complete ossification.

The basic practices of speed development: tiptoe running, running with raised heels, arm circles, skipping as well as running, jumping, throwing exercises and many other physical games like races, skipping and running practices, skipping on alternate foot with maximum frequency with run-out on 50-30-40 meters or time and step counts without run-out on 50 meters etc.
