V.6. Balancing ability

In order to understand the anatomical basis of balance, we have to know the meaning of the word adequate. The adequate stimulus is a stimulus to which a particular sensory receptor responds effectively.

In balance perception the sensory system and the regulating activities of the central nervous system play an essential role. The main vestibular system is the ear which can be divided into three parts: the outer, middle and inner ear. The basic information for the posture and the appropriate location of the gravitational force is provided by the back part of the labyrinth of the inner ear.
