VI.1.5.4. Planning the everyday camp activities:

  • General schedule. It is to include the regular programs of the day ahead. For example the general wake-up time and bedtime, meal times, free time activities, games, competitions, hikes, scheduled lectures, evaluations and award winning ceremonies.
  • Hiking plan, selection of routes, trails, sights, difficulty of the hike, its length, the name of the hike master, necessary equipment, map, compass, meeting point and time.
  • Free time activities plan: it is absolutely necessary in each camp to plan what activities need to be done during free time. Campers may then choose an activity on the basis of their own interests.
  • Duty schedule: In camps where no central duty system or security system operates, it is necessary to elaborate a system of our own in order to protect ourselves, our belongings. This task can be perfomed by any staff member, or even a suitable participant as well. The best site for this task is a central place of the camp, from where the person can easily see everything.
  • Plans for a rainy day. It is also of utmost importance to have a plan B, a plan for a rainy day. Nature and weather can give us surprises. If there is a rain and the hike is cancelled, there should be another program to attend. If hikes are cancelled it is necessary to organize them on another day.
