V.2.1. Ski boots

  • Ski boots are to create a contact between the bindings and the skier.
  • They are to fix the lower leg.
  • When choosing boots we need to consider our skills, body volume, the ski grounds, and our short-term and long-term aims.  The durability and toughness of ski boots is determined by the flex index (http://www.sielok.hu/rovat/sicipo/cikk/sicipo-vasarlasi-tanacsok/) In general it can be stated that the tougher the ski boots are the more suitable they are for professional skiers.
  • When choosing the right size it is important to try them out with the clasps buckled. In this case our feet will not slip forward and backward and the heels will not be elevated.
  • Considering all the above points boots should be comfortable, they should not press on our toes or ankle or lower leg.
  • Tightness depends on the number of clasps (from 1 to 4 + velcro).
  • When trying ski boots on it is advisable to wear ski socks (one pair only!)
  • Don’t tuck anything in between the leg and the boots (trousers for example).
  • Buckling begins at the toes. Tighten the boots gradually. (Occasionally three times).
  • When taking off the boots it is important to go in a reversed order.
  • There are clasps with micro adjustment facilites. These are unfortunately more expensive than regular boots.
