VII. 6. Hyperlipidemia

For the formation of VLDL-IDL-LDL, the amount of liver LPL is adequate in healthy people. The breakdown of VLDL is decreased in insulin-resistant individuals, because the enzymes are saturated by Chy.

The process is stimulated by increased VLDL synthesis, and is characterized by a high TG level (hypertriglyceridemia – HTG). The LDL level is often in the normal range, but the deposition in the vessel walls is increased by a high TG level. HTG enhances coagulation and the predisposition to thrombosis.
