III.4.C. Cholecystokinin (CCK)

Old name: pancreozymin (PZ).

Its production is stimulated by the release of fat and protein in the duodenum.

It is released from the duodenum I cells, or the central nervous system.

Its effects: gall contraction ↑,

            enzyme secretion by the pancreatic acinar cells ↑,

            it relaxes the sphincter of Oddi (coeffect with VIP and NO),

            small intestine motility ↑ (Ach effect),

            pancreatic function ↑ (Ca2+ effect),

            gastric emptying ↓ (Ach effect),

            pleiotropic effect,

            gastric acid release ↓,

            secretin effect ↑.
