Setting game

3-on-3 play is a great opportunity to practise the learnt material in a playing situation. Serving is not applied yet, the game is started only by setting from the attack line. First a 3-on-3 game is played in a small area (a quarter volleyball court), with restrictions, which can be the following:

  • one contact is allowed during the game, the ball must be sent over straight away by setting
  • two contacts are allowed for three people to play the ball
  • three contacts are allowed to play the ball, all three are settings

In a 4-on-4 play serving is already allowed too (low straight or underhand serve). The size of the court is also reduced by half. At the play, positioning to the ball is practised, and trying to perform the playing of three contacts. Students must try to play in a way that the player at the back court is the receiver, who passes the ball to the partner near the net, who sets it for a third contact, which is sent over to the opponent’s court by setting or jump setting.
