- The most suitable place is an aquatic centre with a teaching swimming pool.
- The depth of water should not exceed chest level at the age of 6-7.
- The pool needs to have concrete stable stairs. Ladder entry is not suitable for teaching purposes.
- Water temperature is 28-30 C.
- The number of children in groups should not exceed 15.
- Same-age learners are preferred in each group.
- Children must be in good health.
- Children should be accompanied by an adult when going to the pool and when leaving the pool area.
- Instructors need to explain how to use the changing rooms.
- It is compulsory for everybody to take a shower before entering the pool.
- The instructor has to inform learners about the teaching material, the new movements to be learnt and the practice sessions.
- Swim sessions are to be finished with a brief evaluation.
- After each session learners have to take a shower and dry themselevs carefully. A special attention is to be paid to the hair and the ears.
