Unit 1. - What is CLIL?

Unit Objectives

The aim of this unit is to offer students a variety of CLIL definitions and explain them the key differences between traditional language teaching and CLIL.   Also, the unit aims at giving students a brief insight into CLIL theories and policies by giving them short introductions to the work of a CLIL theoretician and EU policies.

1.2.  Working with texts.

1.2.1. CLIL definitions and terms.

1.2.2. Differences between CLIL and traditional teaching.

1.2.2. CLIL characteristics. Multiple choice.                  

1.3. Extending the topic.

1.3.1.Lesson planning. Cloze test.  

1.3.2. Theoreticians: David Marsh.

1.4 EU policies.

1.5 Timeline. CLIL in the EU.
