I.2.1. Culture, movement of culture, health culture - recreation
The material of our paper is based on the idea of health and health preservation and all the other topics are related to these notions. Its aim is to explore the relationship between movement and health as cultural values, the role and significance of an active lifestyle from the point of view of health and the preservation and improvement of work abilities. By introducing the above topic, the notions of the recreation, recreational activities will be highlighted from prevention to rehabilitation.
As a first step in this process the basic notions will be clarified and the relationships will be emphasized, then, practical examples will be given. Thus the notions of culture, culture of movement, health and the culture of health will be clarified.
The notion of culture is as follows:
- The sum of intellectual and material essentials which were brought about by mankind.
- An area of civilization, or its manifestation in a certain period in one or another group of people.
- Civilization ( level l)
- Somebody’s civilized manner
- The civilized manner of something. E.g. The culture of behaviour
When interpreting the notion of civilization, it is also important to identify the opposite of civilization, that is the lack of civilization. (Magyar, LAROUSSE, 1992)
On the other hand the culture of movement means beautiful movements and method of acquiring beautiful movements. The person, who is incapable of moving in a beautiful way is awkward.
Later, it will be seen, that in many cases the lack of the culture of movement means more than being awkward. It is much worse, because it means illness, disabilities and, in many cases, untimely death.
The notion of health means the undisturbed operation of the human body , the lack of illness in the human body and its organs. According to the definition of the World Health Organization (WHO), the condition of physical, intellectual and social well being is more than the lack of disease or some other physical deficiency. Health is a basic human and natural value and its notion is based on the harmony of bodily and intellectual functions. Its preconditions include the harmony of human relationships (personal and social conditions) as well as the harmony with nature (ecological condition).
Health culture is a system of aims and tools which is aimed at preserving, restoring and improving somebody’s health together with the individual and group behaviour related to it. This is why health is the responsibility of a community, consequently, the young generation needs to be taught about it and shown some examples of good practice.
