Unit 1: Project-Based Learning – Theoretical Approach

‘Children can learn almost anything if they are dancing, tasting,
touching, hearing, seeing and feeling information.’

Jean Houston: Educating the Possible Human

Introduction

In our everyday life we often encounter the term ’project’. When we build a house for our families, we plan a trip to an unknown destination, or, simply do something new, we can proudly talk about our ’projects’.  On the other hand the meaning of the word ’project’ in education is narrower than in everyday life. In education projects one can find various learning organizational forms, in which learners are internally motivated to work (learn) cooperatively on an everyday problem or task with the aim of bringing about some kind of product.
