Fluids

Prerequisites

  • the concept of shear stress;
  • the concept of pressure and volume stress;
  • the conservation of mechanical energy.

Learning objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to

  • calculate the pressure at a given depth in a fluid;
  • analyse physiological processes in the framework of hydrostatics and hydrodynamics;
  • predict changes in blood flow speed when the cross-section area of the vessel changes;
  • interpret the relation between static pressure, height and flow speed.
