Diffraction
| Whenever a wave encounters an obstacle whose dimensions fall into the order of magnitude of the wavelength of the wave, a phenomenon occurs that is no longer explicable in terms of rays: the wave will bend at the edges of the obstacle and will travel on in new directions in addition to the original one. We call this process diffraction. |
